Bio

My name is Keisha Mimes and I am from a small town in Kentucky called Lynch. I graduated with honors in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Science. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and I am currently in the Occupational Therapy program here at Eastern Kentucky University. After receiving my Master’s degree, my plan is to become a traveling occupational therapist because I want to gain more experience in working with a diverse group of individuals. I have held many leadership positions during my undergraduate years including being an EKU Campus Rec intramural supervisor for two years and a program assistant for intramural basketball scorekeeping and volleyball. Throughout my career here at EKU, I have learned the importance of diversity and have begun to strive to reach cultural competency. I know in order to be one of the best healthcare professionals, I have to be open minded and understanding of different cultures. I am looking forward to gaining new experience in working with people from a variety of backgrounds and expanding my leaderships skills. I am excited to take on this new role in the Diversity Office.
