EKU Ranks in Top 15 Best Value for Dyslexic Students

Eastern Kentucky University’s Center for Student Accessibility is the home of Project SUCCESS, a comprehensive initiative designed to accommodate the needs of differently-abled students. In particular, features like academic coaching, individualized tutoring, and focus groups help establish a robust social and intellectual support network for undergrads with divergent learning styles. EKU also offers general disability services that will appeal specifically to those with dyslexia, including note taking services, assistive reading and writing technology, and test accommodations.

As a 2017 INSIGHT Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient, EKU ranks in the top 2 percent of schools nationwide for its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.  EKU has been invited to the invitation-only 2018 HEED Award Summit.  The university will be represented by Dr. Timothy Forde, Vice Provost for Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer, at the inaugural event to be held at University of Houston in June of this year.

EKU Graduate Student Selected for NCAA Student-Athlete Engagement Program

More than 470 higher education and intercollegiate athletic leaders and student-athletes joined the NCAA office of inclusion in Indianapolis at the JW Marriott for the seventh annual NCAA Inclusion Forum April 14-16.   Marcella Rocha, former EKU Women’s Basketball player was one of 30 student-athletes chosen to attend the forum.

Latrell Floyd aspires to be a voice for service in his community.

On Jan. 24, Floyd received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Community Service at the eighth annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Banquet at Eastern Kentucky University. The previous month, he graduated from EKU with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and hopes to use that background to influence others to serve their communities. “Words go a long way and are very powerful,” he said. “I learned that as a communication student.”

Military & Veterans Affairs is parking a white, four-door Ford F-150 of the Burnam House again for the 3rd Annual Hunger Awareness Food Drive.  Community members can easily drop off food and toiletry donations to benefit Colonel's Cupboard.
 
Help fill the white truck Nov 13-17, (Mon-Fri), 8am-6pm on Lancaster Avenue in front of Burnam House.
